To wn. from Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les. c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 1293 Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les.6/MH. {M. Huckerby} 9.11.37. Shock Absorber Valve Patent. Application No. 10819/37. Gordon Armstrong has asked if Armstrong Patents Co. Ltd., Eastgate, Beverley, Yorks., can use the balanced valve to our print Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 360 if we are granted a patent. As the provisional patent was only filed on 15.4.37 we are not yet in a position to know if we shall obtain a satisfactory patent. At the present Armstrongs have used this valve for a number of experimental shock absorbers, and we understand that Lagondas are now asking for production shock absorbers for their new model. We have told Armstrong that we think there will be no objection to him using the valve, provided he pays a small royalty. We suggest the following figures for a royalty. In considering one week's production - 6d each for first 200 units. £5. 0. 0. 2d.each for next 1800 units. £15. 0. 0. 1d each for all above 2,000 2,400units a week £110. 13.4. Alternatively £100 a week for any number of units. We think that Armstrong Patents will need to use this valve for their better quality hand control dampers which at the moment have only been supplied to Lagondas and ourselves for test purposes. For his other dampers which are fitted to Ford 8 h.p. and Morris 8 h.p. cars there is less need for such | ||
