Date  29th June 1933

Minute No.2.Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} -8- Hyl/R.29.6.33.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will therefore immediately try this out on the bonnet of the green Experimental car and if successful Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} instructed that the bonnets of the first 15 chassis must be returned to Derby to be altered in a similar manner. If the altering of the shape of the louvres cannot satisfactorily be done new bonnet sides must be put in hand to replace them.

3. Mascots. The question of a design of Mascot for the Bentley car was discussed and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} expressed the opinion that we should have a Mascot available to offer in order to reduce the possibility of all kinds of miscellaneous mascots being fitted after sale.

Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} was requested to discuss the matter with C.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that he had ideas for a suitable design of Mascot which he will develop and submit for consideration.

4. Guarantee and Price. It was agreed that in view of the possibility of heavy guarantee and policy work on this car that the addition of the sum mentioned by Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} should be made to the price.

It was also agreed that we must issue a three years' guarantee.

5. Balance Weights. The recent trouble with crankshaft balance weights was discussed and it was arranged that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} should instruct improved single studs for the 15 chassis and these improved studs will be fitted to these chassis as and when they are returned to the Works for final test.

It was decided that the next car to go to France for 10,000 miles test should have E's latest two-stud scheme in place of the single stud as at present.

The existing experimental cars should be converted to the improved single stud scheme.

6. Pistons. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that the pistons which are at present fitted to the 15 chassis are not likely to be satisfactory in use as they do not bed on the lands between the piston rings. This causes undue deflection on the skirt and will eventually most probably lead to failure.
