Dear Sirs,

RE BATTERY.

We have carried out low rate discharge tests on the latest battery you have sent us. We are sorry to say we cannot obtain the 60 ampere hours which you said it was capable of giving. Our first discahrge was carried out at 6 amperes, after making quite sure of the battery being fully up, and we obtained 51 ampere hours. It was then charged up again at a reasonable rate with 84 ampere hours and discharged at 10 amperes, when we obtained 42.5 ampere hours. On the next charge we made absolutely sure of a full charge being given viz. 5 amperes for a period equivalent to 143 ampere hours, after which, on discharge at 6 amperes, we again obtained 51 ampere hours.

We noticed that the densities of the acid in the cells when in a charged condition, was rather unduly high although we had not altered the electrolyte from how you left it. This, you will remember, happened in your previous batteries and we had to considerably reduce the density of the electrolyte without, however, improving the performance.

Yours faithfully,
