We attach herewith a power curve of the E.A.C.1. engine showing a comparison between the 118º and 110º Camshafts.

We have been carrying out a number of tests in connection with the distribution. Although the petrol consumption and power show the distribution at low speeds to be good (the consumption is considerably better than we get on the 40/50 HP.), we are not satisfied with the distribution.

We find we get a considerable amount of liquid petrol draining into the hot-spot when the engine is running full power up to 1000 revs. At 500 revs. if we collect the liquid in a bottle instead of draining it back to the hot spot, we collect as much as 15% of fuel used at that speed. At low speeds full power there is a quantity of fuel being vaporised the while time in the hot-spot. At low speed s we increase our torque if we partially close the butterfly throttle. When we throttle down with a Knave Carburetter, the distribution is affected. All the troubles are reduced if we partially baffle the exhaust so as to increase the heat to the hot-spot.

We shall be sending a further report giving more particulars.
