E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} ) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ) (At Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.) BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ) X7080. R1/M29.3.32. Sent from W.W.1.4.32. C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} RG.{Mr Rowledge} SEMI-EXPANDING CARBURETTER. X. 7080 This seems to be hopeful of soon being satisfactory. It is not however going quite as I wish, viz: we must not throw away one of our best features of the double piston and we must not use SUs. central guide, unless we see the patent situation is right. It will then need certain precautions in its application. It is rather difficult to explain that we could not trust to a small restriction between the engine suction and piston because the varying leakage of the piston would give us less than the actual suction. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} understands this, and will explain. s The suction chamber would perhaps need to be tooled out with a diamond unless more space between guide boss and bore for emery wheel. My drawing is not a rigid design, but a suggestion. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
