Your Ref._______ Our Ref. RLK/D May 29/33. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, ATTENTION OF MR. ROBOTHAM We regret that we have not been very successful with the aluminium bodies for the pumps. Soldering is not satisfactory on an alloy, and it appears to be very difficult to get a good finish in the machining on pure aluminium. We are therefore getting on with a pattern for a modified body which will be a sand casting in Hiduminium, and in which the plate will be fitted against a cork washer instead of being soldered in. In the meantime we are sending you a couple of pumps with brass bodies fitted with the rubber rollers for you to try. Assuring you of our best attention. Yours faithfully, For THE S.U.CO.
