X9946 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}12/LG. 7th. Feb. 1924. Mr. Lauro C/O PN.{Mr Northey} We have heard from PN.{Mr Northey} that the servo became inoperative during the run down there and that you have changed to the cast iron shoes. It is difficult for us to understand why the Ferodo lined servo became inoperative. The fact that the material wore should not affect it as long as the brake pedal did not go on to the floorboards. There is one point we should like you to look into carefully - to see that there is no bolt in the frame stopping the brake operating mechanism. For instance, some of the Coachbuiling bolts which support the steps may foul some of the levers. The easiest way to check this is to disconnect the operating mechanism close up to the cylinder and to disconnect the front brakes and then make certain that the brake pedal will go right down to the floor before any parts foul. [Handwritten note in left margin: Servo- with an arrow pointing to the word 'cylinder'] We have sent to you today the other of the two levers which will increase the power of the servo by 20%. contd:- | ||
