RHO. 800 DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}8/G.4.3.38. BENTLEY 50 ENGINE. Herewith is E.CD.525 Revision of Cylinder and Head to provide for 3 1/2" bore. The combustion space has been re-calculated to suit the increased bore and requires checking by a wooden model. A scheme for inserting the exhaust valve guides from the top, as is customary on side valve engines, is shewn and is offered as an alternative to the original design on E.CD.403, if Works prefer it. The water gallery has been made smaller to pass the larger barrels, but is still adequate in size. A modification to the floor of the tappet bosses is indicated to reduce the overhang of the tappets in the direction of thrust to the same as Wraith. The steam pockets in the roof of the cylinder head water jacket have been removed, which alters the shape of the water outlet to the head. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SWDE | ||
