✓6153. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.15/MA. 24th December, 1935. Messrs.Philips Lamps, Ltd., Philips House, 145, Charing Cross Road, London, W.C.2. For the attention of Mr.R.E.Gale. Dear Sir, We received the power line and tested it as follows :- The fuse was subjected to a current of 10 amperes for 30 seconds and as it did not melt the current was raised to find the fusing point. At 13.5 amperes the fuse had not melted and as the whole assembly was very hot it was decided to investigate. We found the inside charred and the rubber band externally placed round the fuse cap had split. Obviously the heat capacity of the assembly is too low for the fusing current and we suggest the design be altered in this respect or the current value of the fuse reduced. We should also recommend that in order to make the whole assembly water proof a thick rubber band be fitted over the whole length. The fuse assembly and power line is being returned to you under separate cover. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
