X.4333 - GOSHAWK DYNAMO BRUSHES. X3945

You will see from our report EFC5/T22.10.23. just issued, that the results of our brush material experiments go to indicate that Morganite brushes of EGO material are equally good with our present standard Le Carbone Z material.

Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} has all along been anxious that we should have a second source of supply and even to obtain our brushes completely from Morgans if possible.

You may remember we have made a number of tests of EGO material on the Lucas E.575 dynamo, all of which tests went to show that these brushes were equally satisfactory, if not better than the standard of CM.9 Morganite material used on that machine. Because there was not any dissatisfaction expressed with the present standard, it did not seem necessary to change. We suggest, however, for your consideration that we might now, or sometime when we have further experimental evidence on the Goshawk machines of the suitability of these brushes, standardise these in parallel with the Le Carbone Z and send them out on production.
