CHANGE GEAR PROBLEMS.

Referring to R4/M7.3.29., the scheme for the free wheel in the 20 HP. side shaft is finished at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, except for a few finishing touches.

It has been held up because we thought the urgency of the S.S. programme seemed to require nothing else being proceded with until we had finished it completely. There is also no doubt they would not have been able to work on it in Derby.

We will complete the schemes and send them through as soon as I return to W.W. I have been in Derby for the past fortnight, which has delayed the progress of some things at W.W. though I have done some drawings here and it has otherwise been useful in clearing up outstanding points.

For the same reason the epicyclic gear box has been waiting the making of a finished scheme to send to Derby. The designing is practically finished.

We will also draw up a report on the change gear situation when I return to W.W. which I hope will be Friday the 15th. at the latest.
