Gentlemen:-

Replying to your favor of Nov. 10th. Crecium is our trade name for a particularly high grade of tungsten metal used in contact points.

It has given satisfactory service on Bosch, Eisemann, and Splitdorf magnetos and would probably serve as high tension points in spark plugs. We will enter yourorder for samples of points .160" and .100" diameter to conduct the experiments you mention. I have asked our New York agent to communicate with you.

We are unable to furnish tungsten for English trade except through the Tungsten Mfg. Co., Thanet House, 231, Strand, Lond, England, which is the joint owner of contact patents in England.

Tungsten can be welded satisfactorily with copper if the tungsten is previously cleaned and the copper put on electrolytically or in an atmosphere of hydrogen.

We are conducting experiments for another concern in Chicago using molybdenum wire as an ignition point on spark gaps. This wire is more ductile than tungsten and has similar properties. I will take the liberty of sending you within a few weeks data sheets showing the properties of tungsten and molybdenum and the methods of using and working them.

Very truly yours,

FANSTEEL PRODUCTS COMPANY

Signed R.{Sir Henry Royce} Webster.
