328 To G/Rb.{R. Bowen} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}9/AP.16.2.37. P.3. GEARBOX. We are proposing very shortly to replace the continuous gears now made in S/ZNX. with hardened splines, by gears in S/ZNCR. having soft splines heat treated to about 380 Brinell. The object of this is to reduce both scrap and the present fitting time required for lapping the gears on the shafts. We think the material is slightly more expensive but should like your views on the reduction in machining and assembly time. The parts in question are - G.81570. G.82925. G.81571. G.84315. G.82903. G.84800. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
