-15- Road Wheels. No spokes have broken or become loose during the mileage, the wheels appeared to be in good condition. Rear Stabilizer.LOP.F. 88037.N.Sch.4607.4647. Rubber Bearings. We have had no trouble from this unit. The rubber "silent blocks" remained in good condition, and the ball ends remained quiet and free from up and down play. The stabilizer is effective and holds the car well on corners, even when the damping is in the full soft position. Front Axles. LOP.C. 83342. There was no indication of seizure or excessive wear. They were not dismantled. Rear Springs.LOP.L.88166.N.Sch.4647.Lec.4793/4800/20/42. Fitted with rubber between springs & Axle. We did not remove the gaiters for examination, but found the bijur supply to the shackles was quite adequate. The bijur coil to the O.S.R. spring was hit by a stone, which flattened it out. This was removed and repaired. On first receiving the car, we noticed considerable thumping going on underneath. On investigation this was traced to side blackness in the front fixed shackles of the rear springs. We had this washered up in Paris, but towards the end of the mileage it again worked black, causing the same thump. Since then we have had no chance to carry out further investigation. The rubber packing between the spring and axle mounting has remained firm and is in good condition. It would be hard to say whether this has any advantage or not, as a comparative test with another car, without the rubber, would first be necessary. | ||
