Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby. Dear Sirs, We are sending to you herewith the broken distributor rotor arm from the Lucas magneto, Type E.R.6 B.54A. No. 426 which you kindly loaned to us and which we received under cover of your Advice Note No. WGF. 29755 of the 2nd ultimo, and to which you refer in your letter, reference as above dated the 18th July, 1929. We had only succeeded in obtaining low speed figures from this machine, when, on increasing the speed to about 2,800 r.p.m. the H.T. Electrode must have come adrift, thus causing the breakage by fouling the segments in the distributor block. The distributor block is not damaged. Will you please advise us whether you will obtain a new piece for this magneto or if you would prefer us to do so. The figures for low speeds, over 5.5 mm. 3 point gaps, are as follows. 250. r.p.m. advance. 130. r.p.m. retard. 60° Yours faithfully, for NORTH & SONS LTD., C A Thompson | ||
