To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. c. to J.B.Dixon. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Cricklewood. Oct. 6th,1936. Special S.U. Petrol Pump. The special pump did not arrive in Paris until Friday last. It was therefore useless to fit it to 6-B-IV. I first took a bench test and the result was in my opinion bad. With the delivery cut off the pump, both sides, kept racing away and although not noisy, was not as it should be. We examined the valves but nothing else, and did not find any cause. After washing out and re-fitting the racing away was not so noticeable, so I called in Sr's trials car from the show and had the pump fitted to that car. It appeared to work satisfactorily on the car, and was quiet. It is now running mileage and I will keep you informed upon its behaviour. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock. | ||
