To W.R- from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. to Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} Ey. -> Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} XH117 Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}10/C7.2.33 Re Chassis No. GAU-48..Park Ward Trials Car. Referring to Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}6/MW6.2.33 the information given therein raises several very important points:- (1) We would like to know the numbers of the 142 cars and if, as is possibly the case, some of them are still at the Coachbuilders, we should like to have your views as to whether a special effort ought to be made to change the pins before the chassis get into the hands of owners; and also whether there is sufficient danger to go even further than that and try and change them in the hands of customers. (2) Whilst we note you say that since the 142 chassis in question were built a modification has been made to the type of split pin, you do not say what happened prior to the 142 cars, and I should like to know how they were turned out in this respect, and if different from the 142, why this alteration was made and by whose instruction. Needless to say the possible harm to our business and reputation by failures of the type on GAU-48 would be very disastrous. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
