To Sgr from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} C. to D.H. Fyr. C. to [REDACTED] X2934 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LGS. 7. 29. RATING OF 'F' ENGINES. X4657. We attach herewith a copy of a report on a visit of Major Ross and Capt. Forsyth to Derby when RG.{Mr Rowledge} was ill. We think this makes it clear that we have strongly adhered to the 2250 normal r.p.m. Major Ross and Capt. Forsyth came to Derby with the express purpose of getting us to increase the normal r.p.m. but the only thing we apex agreed to was that it could be run as a development engine. It was afterwards agreed that the proposed increase in revs. should be made 2400 instead of 2350 revs. As regards the difficulty with the full S/C. engine not passing the Detonation Test. We ran a 20 hrs. test at the take-off power and speeds, followed it up with a 100 hrs. normal endurance power test and this passed the Full S/C. engine for service requirements.
