To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} W/Dr. SGS. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x204 Re 'G' Series Trials Bentley Cars -B2-GA and N4-GA. We are informed by Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} that the administration have agreed that these two cars may be fitted with a petrol filler on the side of the boot as a special feature, and have been asked that the chassis be provided with such fillers. We are informed also that the administration have agreed that special chassis may be brought through with this type of filler when ordered by Sales as a special feature for use on the new all-steel Park Ward Saloon Body, until such time as this filler has become standardised. The filler in question is that shown on Lec 4945 which is a modification of our Lec 4859. Would you kindly arrange for the necessary parts to instructed for the filler head and the corrugated tube flexible connection, and the special petrol tank inlet fitting. The tank itself should be the present standard tank and not the tank of the lightened gauge with the sweated on stone shield. The corrugated brass tubes in the flexible filler tube we have been obtaining as samples from Messrs. Cornercroft Ltd., Ace Works, Coventry, and so far we have not got exactly what we require, although we have handed the samples supplied, to the Expl. Dept. for fitting to fillers for test. We are wishing to get the tubes in thinner gauge material. Samples of such tubes were promised to us and should have arrived by now. We are taking the matter up with Messrs. Cornercroft but suggest that the Order Office may wish to go into the matter of deliveries and price. In order that progress may be made with the bodies it will be necessary to supply Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} with blue prints of a drawing showing the position of the filler head on the body recommended by ourselves, and instructions for fitting. It will also be necessary to supply, well in advance of the chassis, the piece of steel tube which has to be welded into the body when it is panelled. In view of the fact that Sales are going all out for this type of filler it is very urgent that we should make a test for same as soon as possible. Such a filler is being fitted to 6B1V and B56BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} | ||
