The slow running performance of the E.A.C. engine, comparing it to the standard 40/50 HP engine.

ENGINE - SLOW RUNNING. We are convinced that on the test bed we can run the EAC. engine as slowly and evenly when running light as a 40/50 HP. engine. We can consistently keep the engine turning over at 140 to 150 r.p.m., no load. With the EAC. car on the road, if we adjust the throttle carefully, we have been able to run evenly for a mile at a speed of 4 m.p.h. The difficulty with the EAC. is that the engine will not drop into a slow speed as consistently and evenly as the standard 40/50 HP. The engine coupling also appears to cause more noise if the drive is not perfectly even. We are running an EAC. with a standard 40/50 HP. carburetter including throttle. This, at first, gave us a distinct improvement but investigation shewed this was due to the more gradual adjustment of the throttle. We are much more hopeful of being able to reproduce the slow-running qualities of the 40/50 HP. on the EAC. engine. At an early date, at your convenience, we should like to have 46-PK car for a few days in order to bring up-to-date by fixing - Low lift Camshaft, Modified Exhaust, Improved Carburetter and Friction on Brake Equaliser.
