You will observe that the off side front spring has an unloaded or free camber of 2 1/4" and the near side one has a deformed master leaf. Prior to removing the original front axle and springs from the chassis, we found the lean of the pivots to be from 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" degrees. After the fitting of the new complete front axle and springs sent from the Works specially for this car, the steering was found to be O.K. at all speeds. (PIVOT LEAN 4 1/2°) We cannot tell you the amount of twist in the front axle as we have not dismantled the hubs and pivot axles from same. We are leaving the axle in its complete form in order to comply with the Customs formalities when same is returned to England. "Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/VA" VA- | ||
