R.R.A. 25 25m. 12-20-20 40849 X2758 INTER-OFFICE CORRESPONDENCE ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC SPRINGFIELD, MASS. CC Mr. Belnap Mr. Nadin Oy6 - G 3821 August 3, 1921 Dear Hives: Re: Induction Pipe It would be interesting to know what our induction vacuum is under full throttle various speeds, and under road conditions, level, climbing 10% grade, etc. In Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG22.11.20 you give us the depressions full throttle from 300 to 1000 revs., running from .625 to 1.562 inches of mercury. These strike one as low, but without road figures one cannot very well judge. Nelson gives for the Premier under level road conditions, figures ranging from 16 lbs. at 10 m.p.h. to 3 lbs. at 60 m.p.h. (2.5 to 1 axle) or 10 lbs. at 60 m.p.h. (4.5 to 1 axle). See S.A.E. Journal for February. In connection with the possibility when using the carburetter on the L.H. side of getting a better road performance, we would like to know whether you have any such figures for the standard pipe. OY.
