Coverley - Production Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}23/N.8.7.38. Bentley Complaint of knock of Change Speed Lever when in top gear. ------------------- We have had two cases of the above complaint in this week. A particular bad case was on B.55.KU. mileage 11,559. The knock is caused by the selector lever fouling the square driving shaft for the speedometer. This lever has to be set in many instances at the Works to give the necessary clearance so I am informed. Upon investigating I cannot find any reason for this lever to alter its position to make it foul during running conditions. If there is I should be greatly obliged if you will inform me. To clear away the foul and get the car away I allowed K.{Mr Kilner} to turn the corners off the square driving shaft at the position where the fouling took place. The rough sketch gives the position and what was done to clear it. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
