(crossed out) RE ORDERING OF MATERIAL FOR FURTHER 500 CHASSIS. £ With reference to the next 500 chassis, we hope it has been found possible to avoid the use of the heavy steel castings and substitute the recently designed sheetmetal pressings and drop forgings in the place of these. I refer to the exhaust nozzle in sheetmetal work, the cutout foundation as a drop forging, and the engine feet as combined drop forgings. I would like Mr. Wormald to consider whether these parts, if not already standardised, could be ordered on the assumption that they will be standardised before the material arrives (crossed out) at the machine shop. The only part about which any anxiety need occur (crossed out) is the engine foot, and I have every confidence that we shall soon be able to prove this by testing them as bronze castings, and making them from steel forgings as quickly as possible.
