I checked over 6.B.IV. at Paris yesterday before sending it on the road and found a fault which accounts for the servo not working progressively, which was complained of during the running of this/car. I have indicated the trouble on the sketch enclosed. The slot in the stop on the crossmember is not sufficiently wide to allow for sideways movement of the rod with the lifting of the servo cams and bad binding takes place. This was reproduced by running with the back wheels jacked up and watching the action of the servo. The slot has been increased in width and the trouble was cured. We also observed the working of the stops when the rear brakes were disconnected and found that considerable bending of the crossmember takes place. ---------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH{George W.
