We find that with the improved power output we are getting from the 8 litre engine, our petrol supply is scarcely adequate with the existing system. The major restriction appears to be in the pipe line to the carburetter which depends on gravity. This pipe line will only pass about 95 pts/hr., whereas our power output with the big engine will require 119 pts/hr. This discrepancy is not quite so large as would appear with these figures, as actually there is a considerable depression in the floatchamber which assists the petrol feed. The vacuum pump also requires attention as actually for the existing continental Phantom it is incapable of keeping the autovac level constant at high speeds.
