Mr. ......from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Mr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} B. PN.{Mr Northey}2/WT23.12.29. 29-WJ. SPRINGING. Ref. MB.12/H.20.12.29. I have noted the remarks therein and it is rather depressing that in spite of EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} considering the springing of this car VERY GOOD for the type of body, we have had constant complaints from enquirers to an extent which we consider was bad for our reputation. It is no use whatever for Works officials to consider the springing of a car VERY GOOD if our customers who are ordinary reasonable people entirely disagree with this. It is very surprising that Ep.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} should find that the tyre pressures were 45 and 49 respectively, front and bak, because in view of the criticisms the pressures have been reduced right down to 30 lbs. whilst this car has been in use recently, and the adverse criticisms have been made with these low pressures. I anticipate that if the springs are as suitable as possible then our efforts must be levied entirely on the shock absorbers, and I shall be glad to hear as soon as possible what improved results may have been obtained.
