In order that owners may get the best starting results (especially from cold) we think it necessary to advise in the Instruction Books that :- Having switched on, the pumps be allowed to fill the carburetter float chambers and come to rest before the starter motor is put into use. Some owners may first switch on and immediately use the starter, before the petrol has properly come through, in which case they will not only severely tax the battery, but will reduce the voltage to such an extent that it becomes insufficient to operate the pumps properly, and so prolong the starting.
