Silver Ripple.

In connection with the planning and preparation of estimates for the production of the above, you will appreciate that there will be considerable delay if this work is not put in hand until the detail drawings are available.

With a view to eliminating this delay, it is requested that certain facilities be granted, as suggested below. The investigation could then proceed immediately.

1. Panel Formers.

Inspection of the panel formers at Motor Panels, Coventry, would provide us with data as to the size, shape and number of panels, as designed for 12.E.B.V., which information is not available in paper form.

2. Partial dismantling of 12.E.B.V.

Removal of trimming etc. would give access to the main constructional details, which would be invaluable in cases where complete drawings are not available.

3. Plant, Tools and Finished Parts.

Contacts with firms making pressed parts, also factors of presses and press tools, would enable us to make comparisons between the cost of buying finished parts, and purchasing the necessary plant and tools and making in our works.

The method of approaching these firms would be of course a matter for your decision.

4. Liaison with Park Ward. Since we shall not have the benefit of a Park Ward representative at Belper, it is felt that advantage might be gained by making personal contact at their works from time to time, in order to discuss various methods of manufacture, jigs and fixtures, etc.

5. Material Costs. It is suggested that the assistance of the R.R. order office should be enlisted, to ascertain pre-war prices of all the raw materials which we are likely to require.

I should like to have the opportunity of discussing the foregoing points with you at your convenience.
