Messrs S. Smith & Sons (Motor Accessories) Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
LONDON N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr.V.J.S.Russell.

Dear Sirs,

Confirming the visit of the under-signed to your Works on Monday last, when he brought for your inspection a special petrol gauge tank unit with Carbon Graphitic Bearings. We informed you that this gauge had run satisfactorily 18,000 miles on one of our Bentley chassis, and in the circumstances we see no reason why it should not be standardised.

It is agreed, therefore, that you proceed with the fitting of this special Carbon Graphitic bearing, on the understanding that it will not cost us any more money, as we are afraid we cannot agree to any modification to our petrol gauge at the moment which will increase its cost to us, in view of the high price we are already paying for this unit.

Before we issue a Standardisation Sheet at this end we would prefer to hear your remarks regarding the question of price.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
