6-B-IV Exhaust System.

Herewith revised specification of the exhaust system we would like fitting to 6-B-IV car for the next 15,000 miles test in France.

Exhaust manifold to EX.23399.

Straight through pipe in 14 S.W.G. mild steel from manifold to front silencer. This pipe to be "Aluminized" and lagged with asbestos rope. Lagging covers to be made in 24 S.W.G. mild steel nickel plated.

Front silencer complete as per new Bentley exhaust system specification see Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}19/KW. 5.6.36. except for centre pipe which should be made from perforated tubing instead of the ordinary drilled pipe.

Rear intermediate pipe to EB.2825 in 16 S.W.G. mild steel.

Rear silencer to be made similar to front silencer deleting EB.877 and EB.881 pipes and centre baffle and fitting straight through perforated tube. This silencer to be lagged similar to front silencer.

Tail pipe to be made with inner pipe in perforated tubing 1.750" dia. with an outer tubing of 16 S.W.G. mild steel 2.750" dia. the area between the tubes to be filled with "Zonolite" and end covers welded in position.

G.H. Whyman will supply the "Zonolite" and also a sample tail pipe.
