R.R. 950s. (20 T) (S.H. 326. 31-1-21). Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2/6/15. X 1152 B.J. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}27/EW/25.4.21. Houdaille RE: SHOCK ABSORBERS. Our friend - Colin Defries - is, as you will see from the attached papers, anxious that R.R. should make a test of these Shock Absorbers, and he is fully convinced that they would effect a considerable improvement in our springing. As they are not by any means a new device, I have no doubt that the Works have already made careful and exhaustive tests, so perhaps the first step is to ascertain if such is the case and the results thereof. If not, no doubt you would like to arrange for the Works to test a set and I have no doubt that Mr. Defries would be pleased to supply a set gratis for this purpose. Sg.{Arthur F.
