13.58 7/L. DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS,PHONE,BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION No. 395. YOUR REF: OUR REF: HEP/HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}358. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 24 Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Limited, DERBY. For the attention of S.H.Grylls, Esq. 19th May, 1939. Dear Sirs, In thanking you for your letter of the 2nd May, under reference RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}4/JH, giving details of the 4.50-16 4-ply covers removed from your Bentley following last tests in France, these covers have now been carefully examined and casings have been broken down in order to determine what effect operating conditions have had on the construction. Ignoring the nearside front tyre which had failed due to accidental reasons, the remaining tyres, although worn to the breaker strip, show no sign of break-up in the casing, and we consider that if the conditions of operation are in any way comparable with those of the previous tests reported in the Press, the condition of the covers can be considered satisfactory. Yours faithfully, For DUNLOP RUBBER CO., LTD. [Signature] Manager - Car Manfrs. Division. | ||
