We consider that the new rod should be designed as if it were going to be machined all over, and then, if and when we can get forged-to-size rods, we will add the necessary allowance.

Other features which we should like including in the specification, which do not necessitate designs, are :-

1. Aluminium camwheel.
2. Studebaker damper.
3. Lightened split skirt flush top pistons.
4. Vauxhall type sodium cooled valves.
5. Inlet valve drilled down the centre.
6. No grummets and valve spring washers which do not allow oil to run down the valve stems.
7. Tri-metal big end bearings.
8. Latest type water pump.
9. Liners in centrifugally cast cylinder iron, short chromium plated.
10. Rolls Royce belt driven dynamo.
11. Lightened type flywheel.
12. 11" Borg and Beck clutch.
13. New scheme of engine mounting to PL.222.
14. Single inlet valve springs to eliminate surging.
15. Hydraulic valve adjusters of the R.M. type on the inlet valves only. Inlet cam form to suit. 15 degrees negative overlap.

We should be glad if Jmr. would give the points requiring design, attention, when he has completed the Myth head on which he is at present working.

Jm.{Mr Morley}
