RE PEREGRINE.
LID{A. J. Lidsey} Y4027
With reference to your CX{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}4/WW.29.12.32. we would suggest the following action be taken by Derby.
EXHAUST FISHTAIL.
We notice from the Derby Scheme. R-R Sch.1941 that the rear edge of the exhaust fishtail is 1.312.ins. behind the back of the chassis crossmember. That on the 25HP. is approx. flush with the back of the rear cross tube. We suggest that on Peregrine we put the swan-neck in the same position as on the 25.HP. and that Derby also modify the J.2. similarly.
PETROL FILLER.
We agree that we did instruct Derby in our memo DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/3V4/M9.6.32. that the Bensport filler which has to be higher than the Peregrine should be used on the latter to save multiplicity of pieces. We now see that this cannot be. The Bensport will have to have its own tall filler. We suggest that the Peregrine filler be the same for all chassis and that it be the height called for by the wings of the Close Coupled Saloon Body. Whatever may be done it is essential that vent hole must be the same height above the top of the petrol in a full tank as on the 25 HP.
We would be glad if Derby would instruct these modifications with a view to getting the experimental cars changed.
