11/10 To HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/FS.{F. Steele} c. to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}23/JH.18.1.39. Clutches on test beds. In view of the fact that we use old driven plates on test beds, and most of these are or have been oily, it will be advisable to fit test bed clutches with stronger thrust springs so as to avoid risk of trouble during a test. We recommend that 11" clutches be fitted with 12 brown or black springs and 10" clutches with 9 white springs. Please see me re supplies of springs, when test bed clutches are dismantled. This of course need not apply when an engine is going on to a bed for a brief run with its own clutch. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} | ||
