83066 To Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /KT. c. to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /KT.9/MJ.20.12.33. Re. Standardisation Sheets. - Lightened Parts. The reason for the issue of two Standardisation Sheets on the above at close intervals is as follows :- The original list of parts which it was considered could safely be made in light alloys is set out in Rg {Mr Rowledge} /AAR.3/DM. {D. Munro} 16.12.31. A number of these parts were accepted by the A.I.D. in their memo F {Mr Friese} /8 22.4.32 for immediate use on Kestrels and it is the use of these that the Standardisation Sheet issued on 10.5.32 covers. Other parts had to await the result of K.11.MS.605 Type Test of June 1932 on the completion of which the second sheet dated 2.9.32 was issued to Standardise the remainder included under memo Rg {Mr Rowledge} /Rbr. {Mr Rubbra} 3/DM. {D. Munro} 1.9.32. A copy of F {Mr Friese} /8.22.4.32 is attached as it appears that a copy of this note was not sent to you. The reason why the same number, X.4657 appears on both sheets is because this is the number of the Experimental File in which all data regarding the components standardised is kept.
