x7962 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} re Mr.E.R.Hall's Car. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}12/E26.2.35 Referring to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.20.2.35, judging from the detailed particulars given in RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/EM.2/BC.1.1.35 85% of the total time was on the wings, i.e. 500 hours. On the face of it, it seems extraordinary as, if looked at another way, it means roughly that two men working 50 hours a week were employed for 5 weeks on making and fitting a pair of wings, and if looked at from a cost point of view it means that their selling price would have been about £130, i.e. 85% of the chargeable work done. If these figures are anything like right, it looks as if it would have been very much cheaper to have got the special wings made up by a coachbuilder. Re headlamps and fittings, in view of what you say, I will ask G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} to charge Mr.Hall with a pair of headlamp brackets. It certainly seems evident that we cannot charge him anything for the wings or for the other work and I am sure you will agree that all this should not have been carried out without approval.
