Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} y4613 EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/20.7.28. SCUTTLE ISOLATION FOR 12-G-4 INDIA 3. X.4613 X.5500 We are enclosing herewith a blue print of the cast dash as fitted to 12-G-4 on which we have pencil marked the shape of the scuttle armature which we have instructed. As this cast dash was designed for total isolation it is not possible to use N.Sch.2660. We suggest that you use the scheme shewn on LF.1112. It is possible that there will be a little shaping needed on the top xxx rail of the scuttle. We hope that the other two India 3. chassis will have the dash modified to suit N.Sch.2660 and also that before the cast dash is used on production this change will be available. We suggest that, in connection with the semi isolation scheme in general, we indicate on the print which we send to the coachbuilder a strip of Sponge Rubber inserted between the scuttle face and the dash, attached to the former by pins and cement. This will prevent draughts and much water entering the scuttle. A rider might be added that a gap may be left if specially desired. We would like to be permitted to review the prints which it is proposed to distribute in this connection. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
