X 719 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Cry.4/KW. 2nd January, 1934. Messrs. Ferodo Limited, Chapel-en-le-Frith. Dear Sirs, For attention Mr. Field. We are continuing our experiments on clutch liners because we find that even with RAD.11 lining the rate of wear on the Bentley Chassis is excessive. We are putting in hand some destruction tests, and are therefore in a position to try out any new liners which you would like to suggest. Will you therefore please send us the lining which you think will have the best wearing properties, to our Piece No. G.B.638. The co-efficient of friction of any new lining must of course not be less than that of RAD.11, and should not be any worse from the point of view of absorption of oil. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
