ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. 19 To: Mr Smith Order No. M.W. Customer's No. Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Holder's Engine now being replaced in Chassis R 11 C There appears to have been some trouble re tappets Tappets set too low in crankcase, i.e. when in compression stroke, camshafts can be turned by finger & thumb & valve clear. It is vital in this case that the valve clearance is set accurately, as per instructions as well that the cam timing points on the bevel wheels should come line to line both the inlet & exhaust for each block & that the timing chain is fitted snug without any slack. This (re valve timing) has been checked but was not checked before the new parts were fitted & it is very very important.
