GOSHAWK 11. REAR SPRING REAR SHACKLES. X4261

Replying to your By5/H18.5.22., we have wired to you as you requested.

We do not consider that the result of the 10000 miles trial calls for any alteration to the pin or in fact to any part of the rear spring rear shackles, but for the sake of manufacture we expect you would prefer to use the same pin as on the front end, and we have therefore shewn some modifications to the shackle, allowing for this, and also we have added the loose wearing washers all round.

It will be seen that in this case the area of side thrust of the upper bearing is the same as that of the lower instead of being much less as was the case in the front spring shackle. We therefore do not propose to alter the area of the rear shackle.

N.scheme 1282 is attached herewith.
