25/30 HP. COMPLAINTS.
-----------------------

(1) Carburetters.

Faulty slow running and failure to start have been the worst features. The latest modified carburetters are overcoming these faults.

(2) Brakes inefficient due to Servo.

This complaint is entirely due to London traffic conditions and we have no cure. The continual light load applied to the servo polishes the surface of the friction washers which reduces their efficiency. Friction washers have been tried which are not so readily affected by light loads but they squeak. It has been noticed that the outer friction plate is generally black with oil or paraffin (not excessive). There is no outward sign of how the oil gets in. We suspect it occurs during cleaning operations.

(3) Exhaust suspension rattle.

We shall shortly have a rubber suspension ready which will be fitted to a car that can be checked. The expenses of this mod. are being closely watched.

(4) Clutch.

There has not been a recurrent complaint with clutches fitted with Thermoid linings.

(5) Rear Axle driving dog rattle and clonk.

These are chiefly due to not being lubricated. Steps have been taken both at the Works and Depots to lubricate with Duckham's grease.
