COPY. To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from BJ. BJ1/H27/9/22. Goshawks Urgently required. ------------------------ Thank you for Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}5/M26/9/22. The position, briefly, is this:- 1. We want by the 4th.Oct. in our showrooms four Goshawks with bodies and one chassis. The Goshawks we intend to put in our showroom are:- (a) Dummy chassis with Barker torpedo body. (b) " " " limousine. (c) " " " Hooper landaulet body. (d) " " " limousine " The chassis is No.40G1, which is now in London. 2. We particularly want to have a good demonstrating car and thought perhaps one of the seven cars which are already made, two of which were going to Paris, might be available for this purpose. From your reply I gather this is not possible, and we therefore intend to retain 4-G-11, Mr.Royce's open touring car for demonstration in London. I understand this will be fitted with louvres. 3. Of course we are particularly anxious to show only cars like those which we shall supply to customers, and therefore, as the principal distinguishing feature of the Goshawk is the louvres, we hope you will kindly arrange to fit these to the above cars at the earliest possible moment. If they can be obtained before the 4th. it will be of great assistance even if it means working at night and over the week-end. 4. With regard to the other fittings for the dummy chassis, although we should of course be glad to have these fitted before the 4th. they are not so necessary as the louvres. I attach a list of parts we hope will be fitted to the dummies, marking them (a), (b), (c), according to their relative importance. Of course wheels are essential. 5. It is impossible for us to have bodies fitted, properly painted and varnished, to chassis delivered by BP. in a week's time, and we do not want to do this, as by using dummy chassis we can save having valuable chassis locked up in our showroom whilst we require every possible chassis for delivery to our agents so soon as they are completed with bodies: every day is of importance just at first, whilst agents are sure to be inundated with requests for trial runs. | ||
