Vs{J. Vickers}/RP. from Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} C. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}R/HL.24.10.40. 18.10.40. With reference to Vs{J. Vickers}/RP.2/CB. In view of the somewhat difficult attitude of the Admiralty towards alterations to the pedestal mounting, I have sent the attached letter to Admiral Whyham. At the same time, we cannot let the gun suffer for the deficiencies of the mounting and I am therefore getting Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/HH to alter the drawings so that the washers are deleted, and the limits on the trunnion and mounting such that a satisfactory amount of end play will always be present. These drawings will then be handed to the L.M. & S. and by this time I should think that Admiral Whyham will have told them to get on with the job. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} | ||
