x75350 Extract from C.W.Pencock's report dated 18.6.30 on 24-X at 10,000 miles. BATTERY AND FITTINGS TO L.C.P. F.80947 - N.S.3114 (1) Revised battery box to suit cantilever suspension. Rolled angle frame. (2) P & R battery. The cantilever suspension has been quite satisfactory The cantilever arm taken off and examined did not show any sign of failure. The battery has required topping up frequently with water. We have noticed that the top of the battery, when the box cover was removed, was covered with fine spray and the connections inclined to sulphate. The cable leads were in a poor condition at the finish of the test. The insulation had been eaten away on the portion of the cable entering and inside the box. This would be caused by the acid fumes given off when the battery was full, charged. | ||
