benzol. We recommend a mixture of petrol and benzol because there are certain well known disadvantages in using all benzol. Although the Shell people are supplying us with fuel for the Atlantic Flights which is better allround than a mixture of 20% benzol and standard petrol, we still recommend that a percentage of benzol should be added. It was agreed between Mr.Platford and myself that 12½% of benzol should be added to this fuel. We considered this to be the safest policy as we cannot be certain that the fuel which is sent out to Newfoundland will be up to the sample which we have tested. We can quite understand that the Shell people, from their point of view, do not wish us to use benzol but we think the only way to get the petrol people to improve the quality of their petrol which they have shewn by this Eastern spirit that they can do, is to continue to use and recommend benzol.
