We understand that the Goshawk has been delayed on the road due to a seized rocker arm, but that it should be here sometime today (Sat:)

After conversation on the 'phone this morning I got into communication with the coachbuilders and endeavoured to get a fresh date of delivery. The Trade Union of the Coach-builders will not permit them to work on the job during the weekend as we suggested they might do. A riot at Park Wards occurred a few weeks ago over this matter.

The very earliest date they can give is Thursday (March 9th.) and that is not at all certain, but they have assured us to do their best. If the wings, stays, etc. come in well with the body, they will have little to do other than - fit the body and hang the doors, upholster and paint.
None of these operations can be done without a chassis for several reasons.

Firstly, the removal of a body from the strength-of panelling shop is difficult as it has no strength of its own.

Secondly, we cannot persuade the coachbuilder to break down his works organisation to oblige us.

Hoopers have very kindly agreed to speed the job up to there utmost, and we will do the same, and keep Derby informed of the progress made.
