re Peregrine Crankshaft.
--------------------

In reply to your memo RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/BK.{A. Birkett - Commercial Manager}2.9.32 - paragraph 6, we find that in the detailing the thrust collars on the crankshaft which take the end pressure of the clutch have been made 2.375" diameter instead of being the same diameter as the thrust collars on the central crankshaft bearing, namely 2.625", hence the first Peregrine engines have an end thrust area of only .63 ins. instead of 1.575 ins. as shown on KR. scheme 116.

We have sent through instructions to have this altered.

With the full area intended the Peregrine will have a larger thrust face than the present 20/25 production engine, and when modified should, therefore, be satisfactory.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
