J 1360 Experimental Department 10th February 1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}6/AP. The Tempered Spring Co., Burton Weir Works, SHEFFIELD 4. Dear Sirs, Since last writing to you, we have continued our running on the "Swedish Wire" springs you made us, and these are proving very satisfactory. The tests which are being undertaken on the road over a certain mileage are not complete, but up to now we have not had a failure with the Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}260 springs. Another Experimental unit we have is particularly bad for spring failures and surging and we should like you to make 2 sets of springs to the enclosed drawings Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}315/6/7/8 in "Swedish Wire" as before, for trial on this unit which we know will give them a severe test. We should be pleased to know when to expect these springs and will instruct our Order Office to send you an Official order. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
